Transformation and innovation are the key factors that drive TCL Technology Group Corp to grow into a globally competitive technology company, said Li Dongsheng, founder and chairman of TCL.
Li shared the process of TCL”s transformation from a consumer electronics manufacturing enterprise to a high-tech giant and his views on the upgrading of Chinese manufacturing industry at a new book recommendation event held in Beijing on Tuesday.
The book describes the development process of TCL in the past 40 years, mainly covering industrial upgrading, technological innovation, core capacities improvement, globalization and the transformation related to TCL.
Li said TCL has witnessed the whole process of China’s reform and opening-up, and the continuous innovation enables TCL to seize opportunities in every stage of China’s economic development.
According to him, China’s manufacturing industry must change itself to adapt to complicated and volatile environment. Over the past decade, TCL has been striving to expand its industrial chain and supply chain into global market, as globalization can minimize the impact of trade protectionism, Li added.
Founded in 1981 in Huizhou, Guangdong province, TCL specializes in the research, development and manufacturing of consumer electronics products ranging from TVs, audio and smart home products.
According to market consultancy Sigmaintell, TCL ranked second in the global TV market in terms of sales volume in 2019.
After 40 years of continuous transformation and innovation, TCL has set up three core industries, namely, intelligent terminal, semiconductor display, semiconductor photovoltaic and materials, with a complete layout in global industrial chain and supply chain.
The many different trade and aid policies being pursued by China globally have been heavily criticised but can developing countries become more independent or will China’s policy reform?
